South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is a non-profit health, community and social services agency. The Centre requires a Medical Secretary to work with our Health and Social Services Administrative Team.

The Medical Secretary’s primary role is to make clients of the Centre welcome and to facilitate smooth access to programs and services by providing medical administrative support. Duties and responsibilities include answering phone lines, greeting, registering and scheduling clients, arranging referrals as required and providing administrative support as needed such as photocopying, faxing, filing, etc. The Medical Secretary is also responsible for implementing the Centre’s policies, procedures, client reception and administrative protocols. Extended clinic hours require flexible work schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary training in office management, medical secretarial or a related program.
  • Two years’ experience in a Health/Social Service Setting, office administration, preferably in a multi-disciplinary setting and a not-for-profit organization.
  • Fluent oral and written skills in English and French preferred; other languages an asset.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in word processing (min. 50 wpm), data entry, electronic scheduling, records management, Nightingale on Demand (NOD) electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving.
  • Proven team-work skills.

JOB POSTING: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE —– TELEMEDICINE

Part Time – .7fte

Position Description:

South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is a non-profit health, community and social services agency. The Centre requires a Telemedicine Nurse (OTN-RPN) to plan, coordinate, support and promote the effective delivery of telemedicine services related to client focused clinical applications and functions via the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). The OTN-RPN will have experience within Healthcare settings as well as flexibility to respond to a fluctuating workload and changing environment.

The role of the OTN-RPN is to ensure delivery of high quality telemedicine services. The RPN will oversee all telemedicine activities including clinical, educational and administrative services, communicate with clients and consultants to book appointments, and assist and support clients through their appointment. 

Qualifications:

  • Licensed and registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Demonstrated competence within the full scope of practice of a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO.
  • Adherence to The College of Nurses of Ontario’s Tele Practice Guideline indicating that nurses facilitating telemedicine consultations “must possess current and in-depth knowledge in the clinical care(s) relevant to the role.”
  • Basic understanding of the field of telemedicine or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to advocate for the integration of telemedicine across the organization;
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical records would be an asset;
  • Interest in application of technology in health care environment.
  • Familiarity in the development of clinical services, policies/procedures and workflow processes
  • Comfortable working within the healthcare environment and with health care partners.
  • Skilled communicator in English; French and other languages an asset.
  • Innovative with the ability to problem solve quickly, strategically, and creatively;
  • Experience in project management, education, promotion, organization, scheduling of activities as well as the management of patients seen through the service.
  • The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Travel may be required between sites/locations
  • Current CPR

POSITION TITLE: Homework Club Staff (4-8 hours per week, May 1 – June 22) 

JOB SUMMARY

South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is a non-profit health, social services and community agency.   We are seeking staff to work in our after-school program in the Shearwater Court neighbourhood in the Hunt Club area.

Under the direction of the Health Promoter for Youth or designate, Homework Club staff are responsible for developing and supervising activities for children and youth 6-12 years of age. Successful candidates will have an abundance of enthusiasm and energy, and can lead a variety of low-organized, cooperative, and teambuilding activities.

Homework Club staff can adapt quickly to changing circumstances, and are comfortable leading small or large-size groups. The ability to establish daily, weekly, and monthly program schedules, incorporating a variety of special events, theme days, and other activities are essential to this role.

Qualifications:

  • Currently working towards completion of an undergraduate degree, college certification in a relevant discipline or combination of education and/or relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with children 6-12 years of age in social-recreation, day camp, or similar setting
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of current child and youth issues
  • Exceptional program planning skills
  • Self-motivated team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Additional languages preferred (French, Somali, Arabic and/or Spanish)
  • Valid Driver’s License is an asset

Salary: $17.80/ hour
