South-East Ottawa CHC is a Community Health & Resource Centre which offers a range of health and social services to residents living in various neighbourhoods in South-East Ottawa.

We are seeking applications for the position of a registered practical nurse (RPN) or registered nurse (RN) to provide foot care services to clients of the Centre and the community in outreach settings, and as casual/on call basis in clinic.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will function as a member of an inter-professional team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health professionals who are integrated into this multiservice community organization.   S/he will provide foot care services to clients of the Centre and community, with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Nursing or certificate/diploma in Practical Nursing
  • Licensed by the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • Nursing experience in a community setting
  • Advanced nursing education: advanced & diabetic foot care courses with practicum
  • Experience in delivering nursing foot care
  • Nursing experience working with seniors and low income families
  • Familiarity with the use of computers
  • Fluency in both official languages is desirable

Child and Youth Engagement Worker

$41,106 to $48,360 per annum

South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is an inter-professional health, social and community services agency. We are seeking a full time Child and Youth Engagement Worker to outreach and work with children and youth primarily at our Hunt Club Riverside site.

JOB SUMMARY

 

Under the direction of the Health Promoter for Youth, the Child and Youth Engagement Worker is responsible for engagement and recruitment of participants, program planning, and front line facilitation and supervision of activities, special events, or other initiatives for young people 6 to 18 years of age, to help build life skills and foster self-sufficiency and overall well-being.

 

This position requires direct leadership in assigned programs, including evening shifts and occasional weekend work.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • In consultation with the Health Promoter for Youth, design, facilitate, and evaluate activities and workshops that enhance youth well-being and overall health
    • Outreach and recruitment of young people and their families within the SEOCHC catchment area
    • Facilitate programs to ensure the completion of overall objectives, including attendance goals and other expected outcomes
    • Provide support and guidance to youth workers and program volunteers
    • Assist participants and the community to build support networks
    • Provide practical support, advice, referrals and information to children, youth and their families in the South-East Ottawa CHC catchment area

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or combination of education and/or relevant experience
  • Training and experience in program planning, group facilitation, conflict resolution, and crisis management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with children and youth
  • Experience working in low-income communities and sensitivity to multicultural issues
  • Excellent ability to communicate in both written and spoken English. Highly desirable is the ability to communicate in French, Arabic, Somali or other languages.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
