Community and Home Support for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities

HOMEMAKING AND HOME MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Do you need someone to assist you, your spouse, parent or a friend with homemaking and/or home maintenance?

Community and Home Support Services are designed to ensure that seniors, aged sixty years or more, and adults with physical disabilities, living at home in South-East Ottawa, are linked with appropriate and accessible services. The following information are guidelines for those who hire workers from the Homemaking and Home Maintenance Programs.

Guidelines for Clients

Hire the worker for a minimum 2-hour period.  Provide the worker with a work list of tasks you would like done. 

Regular Cleaning and Maintenance:      $15.00 PER HOUR

    • Vacuuming, mopping bathroom and kitchen, cleaning counters, table and appliances, dusting, cooking, ironing and laundry.
    • Raking, grass cutting, light gardening, hedge trimming

Heavy Cleaning and Maintenance:        $18.00 PER HOUR

    • Heavy defrost & fridge clean, cleaning ovens and  inside cupboards

    • Washing walls and windows, cleaning floors, moving furniture, eaves trough cleaning, basement cleaning, installing storm windows, digging new garden.

Negotiable Fee

    • Light electrical work, small painting jobs, light carpentry, heavy gardening.
       

For jobs with a negotiable fee, WE STRONGLY ADVISE  – prior to hiring a worker – to request a written estimate of cost per hour and number of hours of work necessary to complete the job, and after the work is completed, to request receipts of purchases for materials.
