Infant and Family Feeding Commitment
SEOCHC supports all families in making informed infant feeding decisions and accessing appropriate nutrition for their infants and children. We recognize breastfeeding as an important public health recommendation and provide support to families who breastfeed, while also providing respectful, non-judgmental support to families who use formula or other appropriate feeding methods. No family should experience stigma, barriers to service, or reduced access to support because of how they feed their child.
We are:
- Helping parents make informed decisions about feeding their baby
- Supporting all families regardless of their feeding method
- Recommending breast milk as the only food for babies until they are six months old
- Recommending breast milk be included in a child’s diet up to two years and beyond
- Protecting women’s rights to breastfeed anytime, anywhere
- Working with our community to protect, promote and support breastfeeding
