Most resources listed here are completely free. Some services may require OHIP (Ontario health insurance) or a referral from your healthcare provider, but many are available to everyone regardless of insurance status or income.
Adjusting to life with a new baby can feel overwhelming. It’s normal to have questions, feel tired, or need support. The resources on this page are here to help you feel confident, connected, and supported during this important time.

Walk-in clinic for unwell babies and children over 8 weeks old who don’t have a family doctor. No appointment needed for same-day care when your child is sick.
Walk-in support 7 days per week, staffed by public health nurses. Get help with baby weight checks, feeding questions, and general newborn care. No appointment needed.
Drop-in vaccine clinics and dental screening clinics throughout Ottawa. Get your baby vaccinated and access preventative health services in your community.
Register your baby to get connected with a family doctor or nurse practitioner. This free service helps find a primary care provider for your child in your area.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and you are unable to see your family doctor or do not have one, you can find care for your children with easy online booking and accessible on-site testing.
Free drop-in play groups where you can connect with other parents and caregivers. Enjoy playtime with your child while building community and accessing parenting resources.
Peer-to-peer breastfeeding support from trained volunteers who have breastfed their own babies. Attend meetings, get phone support, or connect online with other breastfeeding parents.
Peer support group for anyone identifying as Black and/or racialized. Connect with other parents who share similar cultural experiences and build community in a supportive environment.
Evidence-based information about normal newborn and postpartum expectations. Learn what’s typical in the early weeks after birth, including feeding, sleep, and recovery.
Ottawa breastfeeds is here to help families access resources and information in regards to breastfeeding.
